Space Needle
The iconic 605-foot tall spire in the Seattle Center. It has an observation deck at 520 feet and the rotating SkyCity restaurant right below at 500 feet. From the observation deck and the restaurant, there are tremendous views of the Cascades, Mt. Rainier, downtown Seattle, and Elliott Bay. The trip to the top via elevator takes 41 seconds and costs $18 – unless of course you have a SkyCity reservation, in which case the ride is free.

Lunch at a farm, with all locally grown and raised food. The road into the farm was not meant for giant tour buses, so we were loaded onto three farm trucks and brought to our hosts’ home. Lunch was great. Herb had the tilapia, which was served head and all, and I had the chicken wings, which looked much more like the actual wing than anything I have ever had in the states. It was delicious.

Delicious cafe on a family-owned (for 120 years) farm with 120 sheet and 40 cows. The restaurant is actually inside the cowshed, and you can actually see the cows through the windows on one side of the restaurant. We chose the side by the fields with the cute little lambs running around. The food was absolutely delicious.
Kaffi Ilmur
Small cafe and restaurant in one of Akureyri’s oldest houses. Built in 1911, originally as a saddler’s shop, it later became a goldsmith’s, overlooking the fjord before the land was extended and more shops were built. In 2011, one hundred years after it was built, the original saddler’s granddaughter (one of the Ingmars) opened it as a cafe. In May 2022, the café was sold to new owners, but they have kept the decor and traditions the same.

We both very much enjoyed our Hawaiian Poke Bowls with raw ahi tuna, white onion, sesame oil, avocado, cucumber, edamame, ocean salad, crispy onion, sweet soy drizzle, wasabi aioli drizzle and furikake sushi rice.

Cozy dining room and very good food. During the daylight, it has astounding views of Yosemite Falls. The menu offers perfectly cooked steaks, sustainably caught seafood, and mouthwatering pasta dishes. I had a delicious Rainbow Trout and Herb had the Kurobuta Pork Chop. Reservations required.

We wrapped up our stay in Kihei with dinner at Moose McGillycuddy’s, a lively pub with good food. We had the Mahi Mahi Macademia, which was good but not quite as good as Herb’s birthday dinner at the more elegant Cafe O'Lei Kihei.

Roadside stand on the Ke’anae Peninsula (side trip at Mile Marker 16) selling hot, fresh baked banana bread 6 days a week since 1983. Aunty Sandy’s has even been featured on Gordon Ramsey’s ”Unchartered” television series. It was absolutely delicious.

Good choice to not have take-out on our last night.

Popular restaurant on Oxford Terrace along the Avon River. They had live music outside and a bustling crowd inside. We managed to get one of the last tables. We started with a glass of wine and admired the brightly colored murals of birds and vegetation on the wall, which I assume were typical scenes that you would find along the Amazon. Dinner was excellent.

Highly recommended by my son, this is the kind of place were locals to to hide away from the lake front crowds. It's sort of hidden away in an alley off Helwick Street. We actually ate here twice when in Wanaka and both times I had the Buddha Eggs Benedict - organic eggs, spinach, mushrooms, and roasted tomatoes.

Wonderful French restaurant located on Beach Road overlooking Akaroa's lovely Harbor. The food and the ambience were exceptional. Herb had a delicious filet mignon and I had Crispy Glazed Tamarind Eggplant and Seared Scallops. Not sure which was better - the food or the view from our table.
The Common
Popular cafe and garden bar on Rue Lavaud that serves brunch. There was a very cool secret door, disguised as a bookcase, to get to the restroom. Of course I had my usual Eggs Benedict with salmon and spinach while Herb had the Hash and Eggs with Avocado and Spinach

Nomans, a casual restaurant, on 15 Island Inn Road in Oak Bluffs, along the way to Edgartown, with good food and a large lawn area for a place for the kids to run free, which we were going to need a lot this vacation. It'. There was going to be lots of “running free” on this vacation.

Extremely popular seafood restaurant, with an outdoor patio on top with great views, located just a short walk from our house. It was extremely busy, but the service was quick, and the food was good.

Bad Martha Farmer’s Brewery and Pizzeria
Andrew, Celeste, Tommy, Erin, Nora and Walker went to Bad Martha Farmer’s Brewery and Pizzeria, known for its great pizza and beer, and kid-friendly atmosphere with games and live music, making it a fun place to relax and hang out. The kids had a great time coloring, and the adults had a great time watching them have fun together while they drank beer.
Atlantic Fish & Chop House
Herb and I went out for our Anniversary to the Atlantic Fish & Chop House, which used to be the Navigator Restaurant where we had our wedding reception.It was very much different in decor and pretty much everything else, but we had a fantastic meal in a lovely setting.

Nomans Oktoberfest
This event was first held 2 years ago, but it was such a hit that it has become an annual event, in which they transform their spacious outdoor patio and lawn into a festive German-inspired beer garden with classic Bavarian fare, live music, and festive games and contests.

On or ride back from South Beach, right after Herring Cove road joins Katama Road, we stopped at the Katama General Store for lunch. They have a great selection of sandwiches and a lovely wrap-around porch to have lunch on. It was great!
