Incredible buffet and BBQ

Lunch at a farm, with all locally grown and raised food. The road into the farm was not meant for giant tour buses, so we were loaded onto three farm trucks and brought to our hosts’ home. Lunch was great. Herb had the tilapia, which was served head and all, and I had the chicken wings, which looked much more like the actual wing than anything I have ever had in the states. It was delicious.

Delicious cafe on a family-owned (for 120 years) farm with 120 sheet and 40 cows. The restaurant is actually inside the cowshed, and you can actually see the cows through the windows on one side of the restaurant. We chose the side by the fields with the cute little lambs running around. The food was absolutely delicious.

Small cafe and restaurant in one of Akureyri’s oldest houses. Built in 1911, originally as a saddler’s shop, it later became a goldsmith’s, overlooking the fjord before the land was extended and more shops were built. In 2011, one hundred years after it was built, the original saddler’s granddaughter (one of the Ingmars) opened it as a cafe. In May 2022, the café was sold to new owners, but they have kept the decor and traditions the same.

Indulgent variety of English trifles, savory sandwiches, fresh scones, and lots of house-made sweets in their lovely dining room. Oh, and of course, tea. The cost for the Afternoon Tea is $40.95 per person (about $30 U.S.), plus the $39.50 per person Admission to the Gardens (about $29), but it was worth every penny of it.

Very delicious and ample breakfast of eggs, sausage, veggies, and freshly baked scones. The setting and the food were wonderful.

That evening we walked about a quarter mile over to dinner at the nearby Holoholo Grill at the Koloa Landing Resort at Poipu. We both very much enjoyed our Hawaiian Poke Bowls with raw ahi tuna, white onion, sesame oil, avocado, cucumber, edamame, ocean salad, crispy onion, sweet soy drizzle, wasabi aioli drizzle and furikake sushi rice.

After checking out, but before heading north, we went to lunch at nearby Kioki's Paradise, a lively restaurant with live music and good food. I took advantage of the all-day breakfast and had a veggie omelet, while Herb I think made the better choice with a poke bowl that had both ahi and pulled pork.

Fairly mediocre, yet expensive meal at one of the two restaurants at Furnace Creek Ranch. The flat iron steak was the most reasonable option on the menu.

Cozy dining room and very good food. During the daylight, it has astounding views of Yosemite Falls. The menu offers perfectly cooked steaks, sustainably caught seafood, and mouthwatering pasta dishes. I had a delicious Rainbow Trout and Herb had the Kurobuta Pork Chop. Reservations required.

Incredible all-you-can eat buffet with everything you could dream of: several types of scrambled eggs, Hawaiian French toast, applewood smoked bacon, various kinds of sausages, salmon gravlax (which I had never heard of before but instantly became a big fan), and of course the usual fruit, cereal, oatmeal, yogurt etc.

Herb's birthday bash at this highly rated restaurant known for its fresh seafood and fresh locally-sourced cuisine. We both had the Macadamia Nut Crusted Mahi Mahi with lemon-caper butter, steamed rice and local farm vegetables. It was absolutely delicious. That plus a fancy tropical cocktail hit the spot.

We wrapped up our stay in Kihei with dinner at Moose McGillycuddy’s, a lively pub with good food. We had the Mahi Mahi Macademia, which was good but not quite as good as Herb’s birthday dinner at the more elegant Cafe O'Lei Kihei.

Roadside stand on the Ke’anae Peninsula (side trip at Mile Marker 16) selling hot, fresh baked banana bread 6 days a week since 1983. Aunty Sandy’s has even been featured on Gordon Ramsey’s ”Unchartered” television series. It was absolutely delicious.

Delicious vegetarian pizza from the Andiamo Pizza Truck on the resort grounds. It is run by Roy Yamaguchi, the same famous chef that runs the Humble Market Kitchin where we have our buffet breakfast every morning.

Popular pizza restaurant with live music located within walking distance from our hotel. We had the delicious Personal Trainer’s Choice: Free range chicken, spinach, tomatoes, artichoke hearts, kale, mozzarella, pomodoro sauce, topped with avocado, goat cheese & finished with a balsamic drizzle.

Here I thought they only sold apparel, but their restaurant actually was very good. We sat out on their large lanai where there was live music and I had delicious Shrimp and Scallop and Herb had his new Hawaiian go to - Macadamia Nut Crusted Mahi Mahi. Good choice to not have take-out on our last night.

Popular restaurant on Oxford Terrace along the Avon River. They had live music outside and a bustling crowd inside. We managed to get one of the last tables. We started with a glass of wine and admired the brightly colored murals of birds and vegetation on the wall, which I assume were typical scenes that you would find along the Amazon. Dinner was excellent.

Highly recommended by my son, this is the kind of place were locals to to hide away from the lake front crowds. It's sort of hidden away in an alley off Helwick Street. We actually ate here twice when in Wanaka and both times I had the Buddha Eggs Benedict - organic eggs, spinach, mushrooms, and roasted tomatoes.

Andrew, Celeste, Tommy, Erin, Nora and Walker went to Bad Martha Farmer’s Brewery and Pizzeria, known for its great pizza and beer, and kid-friendly atmosphere with games and live music, making it a fun place to relax and hang out. The kids had a great time coloring, and the adults had a great time watching them have fun together while they drank beer.

Herb and I went out for our Anniversary to the Atlantic Fish & Chop House, which used to be the Navigator Restaurant where we had our wedding reception.It was very much different in decor and pretty much everything else, but we had a fantastic meal in a lovely setting.

The Quarterdeck Restaurant in Edgartown is a classic spot for casual, fast seafood located right next to the Seafood Shanty. It's known for its fried clams, fish and chips, and other seaside favorites. It's a great place to grab a quick and tasty meal, especially if you're looking for a no-frills, traditional New England seafood experience.

This event was first held 2 years ago, but it was such a hit that it has become an annual event, in which they transform their spacious outdoor patio and lawn into a festive German-inspired beer garden with classic Bavarian fare, live music, and festive games and contests.

On or ride back from South Beach, right after Herring Cove road joins Katama Road, we stopped at the Katama General Store for lunch. They have a great selection of sandwiches and a lovely wrap-around porch to have lunch on. It was great!
