Thunder River Camp
Our first 2-night stay in a campsite. This would allow us to do the 8-hour hike to Thunder River Falls
Lolo Canyon
Difficult campsite because of steep sandy hills, but we round a lovely spot up against the limestone cliffs, with our own private little waterfall nearby, where spring water from the canyon above spilled over a limestone lip, cascading about 20 - 30 feet down to the sandy ground below.
Tuckup Canyon
Nice camping spot at Mile 165 and the place where I would celebrate my 68th birthday
Mile 190
Camp at the end of a 25-mile day that would leave us 36 miles to go over the next 2 days to get to our end point at Diamond Creek
Mile 216
Nce beach around Mile 216, with nice views of golden hour lighting up the canyon walls. This was our last night camping on the river, so it was bittersweet. Just 10 miles to go before reaching our take-out point at Diamond Creek.

Just off the Ibex Dune Road
Eureke Dunes primitive campground
Primitive dispersed campground (no water or flush toilets) at the base of the impressive Eureka Dunes.

White Horse Hill Campground
Only campground within Aoraki/Mount Cook National Park. It is located at the end of Hooker Valley Road and is run by the Department of Conservation. The facilities were pretty spartan. However, the real attraction was the phenomenal scenery right from our campsite and the easy access to the very popular Hooker Valley Track.
Hampshire Holiday Park - Glendhu Bay
Lovely campground set right on Glendhu Bay. This was definitely a campground frequented by New Zealanders, specifically those with watercraft of any kind. There were power boats, jet skis, kayaks, and SUPs, and even a beach for swimming.

Perched near the edge of a cliff, looking out over an expanse of badlands, known as the Blue Valley, below us and the Henry Mountains in the distance. It was mind blowing.
