Fairly strenuous 12-mile loop on the sandy roads through the Tribal Park, with cars kicking up sand all along the way. With that said, it is still worth every single mile. The views are absolutely incredible.

4 mile out and back ride from the campground down a very steep hill to the Green River Ferry. It was a tough climb back up to the campground.

Hilly ride from the campground to just north of the dam and along the beginning of the Rio Chama Trail. Park bikes and walk across the impressive suspension bridge over the Rio Chama River.

Extremely hilly and challenging 7-mile-long road that winds through dunes and woods, with breathtaking views of Lake Michigan.

Scenic 8.2 mile trail that circumnavigates the island. Highlights along the way include Arch Rock, British Landing, and Nature Center.

Great family bike ride that takes you into the heart Sedona red rock country. The trail has great views of Courthouse Butte and Bell Rock.

From the campground to West Beach. The trails that climb above the beach have wonderful views of the Rosario Strait, but are quite difficult to bike on.

9.2 mile trail along a railroad bed through a wide variety of habitats

100 miles of trails down the mountain. Lift tickets for the gondola are about $39 for an adult and $35 for a youth over 12 (Canadian dollars). There are trails for every level of rider, from gentle cruises through a forest for the beginner to steep rock faces and twisty turns for the expert. Besides the trails, there are 3 skill centers with obstacles and ramps, each designed for a different ability level.

3 mile loop through a valley with colorful sand pipes and interesting rock formations such as the Ballerina Slipper spire and the wide-brimmed pedestals in the Hat Shop. This is the only trail in the park on which mountain biking is allowed.

6-miles of carriage road through the woodlands around Eagle Lake

From the beach through the summer resort town of Point-du-Chene to the fishing wharf

This ride starts at the campground and heads southwest along the Kouchibouguac River on a graveled trail. Turning inland at La Source, the gravel trail continues through forests until the Petit-Large campground. From Petit-Large, a single-track trail winds through forests and on boardwalks over bogs until you come back out onto a gravel trail at the Salt Marsh. From there, the gravel trail winds along the Northumberland Strait past Kellys Beach before coming back to the campground.

Failed attempt to bike the 4 1/4 miles to the Narrows to view where the cliffs pinch the pond in two. The trail is much too rocky and root covered to allow for biking. Hiking would have been a much better choice.

2-mile round trip bike ride to the park's day use area. The sandy beach at the end of the park road is great for swimming and birdwatching.

6 ½ mile, well maintained trail that meanders past red stone cliffs and sand dunes along the shore of New London Bay, and then inland through salt marshes, woods, and farmlands.

Short bike ride through the campground and down a dirt road to a secluded beach on Rustico Bay.

4-mile roundtrip, somewhat hilly bike ride from campground to Buffalo Corral to see the herd of bison penned there

6-mile loop. The first 3 miles are along the shore of the Great Salt Lake from the Bridger Bay Campground to the White Rock Bay group camping area. There are some boulder-ridden sections along the way that you have to walk your bike through. Return by road another 3 miles back to the campground.

From Garden of the Gods Campground to Trailhead of Perkins Central Garden Trail and then back along off-road trails

Pretty gravel trail, which when completed, will run about 12 miles along the river all the way to Ridgeway State Park. The trail, which is meant for hiking, running, and biking, has exercise stations to work out at along the way.

7-mile roundtrip from the Fruita Campground along the scenic drive and up the Grand Wash Road to the trailhead for the Cassidy Arch hike

Miles of ski trails down the mountain. Lift tickets for the Eagle Bahn gondola are $29 for an adult and $22 for a youth 12 or under.

12 miles downhill on a paved trail from the top of Vail Pass at 10,600 feet all the way down to the village of Frisco. The scenery along the way is magnificent.

The 3.2-mile Wildlife Loop begins at the Visitor Center and goes through marshes and around a fresh water pond. The Loop is closed to cars until 3 p.m., giving hikers and bikers a chance to spot wild ponies and birdlife up close. The 1.5-mile Woodland Trail goes through a beautiful pine forest and leads to an overlook where you can sometimes see wild ponies. Swans Cove Trail which branches off of Wildlife Loop Trail is about 1.25 miles long and takes you to the beach. The 1-mile Black Duck Marsh Trail also branches off of Wildlife Loop.

6-mile bike trail through the marshlands, lagoons, swamps, and forests of the park. It starts near US 60 and crosses the enitre park to the Narrows.

Paved bike trail on the Canadian side that parallels the 35-mile Niagara Parkway from Niagara Falls all the way to Niagara-on-the-Lake. Along the Parkway there are meticulously maintained gardens and several attractions related to the falls.

5 or 6 mile roundtrip ride from the Letchworth State Park Campground to Hogsback Overlook

7 miles along marshes, lagoons, and forests of oak trees draped in Spanish moss. Along the way, visit the Animal Forest, the Experimental Crop Garden, and the English gardens.

5-mile dirt trail along the perimeter of the grounds, winding along the Ashley River, through the Audubon Swamp Garden, past a large Indian burial ground, along "the Street" ( a row of the last remaining antebellum slave cabins), and over to the plantation and garden area.

20-miles of paved bike paths circumnavigate the island, passing most points of interest. In addition to the paved trails, you can ride along the hard-packed sand of the beaches and on dirt trails through the forests and marshes.

4-mile round trip single-track trail though a beautiful maritime forest of palmettos and old oak trees draped in Spanish moss. The trail leads to an ancient Indian shell mound believed to be 4,000 years old.

15 miles of paved bike paths through lovely woodlands

The Vineyard’s northernmost headlands, which juts out into Vineyard Sound with sweeping views of Cape Cod and the Elizabeth Islands. Atop a 60-foot bluff at the very tip of the headlands stands the West Chop lighthouse. From the base of the Chop, head west on Herring Creek Road, which eventually turns to sand, to get to Herring Creek Beach, where the ocean (technically Vineyard Sound) flows into Lake Tashmoo.

From the parking lot at the northern end of Sengekontacket Pond, it is a 4 mile ride to Edgartown in one direction and a 2 mile ride to Oak Bluff Center in the other.

Martha's Vineyard Land Bank property on the Tisbury Great Pond. Sepiessa has a 2 ½ mile bike trail that leads to a beautiful sandy beach on the pond, shallow, but still nice for swimming.

Martha’s Vineyard Land Bank property with hiking trails and swimming at a secluded sandy cove on Vineyard Sound. The preserve gets its name from the “great rock” located a short, swimmable distance from the beach. From the bluff above the beach there are tremendous views of Vineyard Sound and the Elizabeth Islands, as well as the “great rock” standing guard over the cove. A steep trail leads down to the swimming beach.

7.5 mile loop from Lobsterville Beach, across the channel on the bike ferry to Menemsha, and then back along the South road towards Lobsterville

From the On Time Ferry dock there is only one paved road -- Chappaquiddick Road. About 2.5 miles from the ferry, the road takes a sharp bend to the right. Continuing straight on the sandy road for another 0.7 miles brings you past the Japanese Mytoi Gardens and on to East Beach. Turning right on the paved road for another 0.8 miles brings you to the junction with Wasque Road. Wasque Road is paved for about a half mile before turning into a stony, rutted sandy road. Continue on this sandy road for about 1 mile to the entrance to Wasque Reservation.

3-mile paved path (each way) from Katama to Edgartown Center. From there one can continue on to Chappy via the On Time ferry.

6-mile ride on bike path from Edgartown to Oak Bluffs alongside Beach Road. The ride is very scenic, with Sengekontacket Pond on one side and State Beach and Nantucket Sound on the other.

2 ½ mile paved trail from Duwamish Head to Alki Point along Elliott Bay. From the beach there are spectacular views of Puget Sound, the Olympic Mountains, and the Downtown Seattle skyline.

7.5-mile (RT) along the North Fork of the American River from the Old Foresthill Road Bridge to Lake Clementine. The trailhead is at the confluence area, 1 3/4 miles south of ASRA park Headquarters.

12 mile scenic bike path along the shores of Mission Bay. The bike route goes through 10 public parks and 2 wildlife preserves.

10-mile ride from the summit down the steep switchbacks of the Off the Top trail, through the forest and out to views of the Minarets along the Beach Cruiser and Mountain View trails, and finally down to the Panorama Gondola where if you are crazy enough you can go back up for more. Mountain bike passes are $41 for two rides or $49 for all day.

10-mile ride from Church Bowl Picnic Area along the path through Camp 4, across Northside Drive to a sandy trail to a beach on the Merced River, across El Cap Crossover, and back along Southside Drive passing many of the Yosemite Valley highlights

8.2-mile ride from Sentinel Bridge along the Valley Loop Trail that parallels Northside Drive to the beach near the El Cap Crossover Road. Our intention was to take the El Cap Crossover Road to Southside Drive to do a complete loop, but the smoke was so bad that we had to turn around and go back. When we got near Yosemite Lodge, we decided to go over Swinging Bridge and get on the Southside Drive. From there we biked back on the bike path that paralleled Southside Drive, passing the cute little Yosemite Chapel along the way.

5.4-mile ride from behind the Yosemite Chapel, along the Valley Floor trail two where it got too rocky and steep. Then it was back to the Yosemite Village to browse the Ansel Adams Gallery.

From Church Bowl Picnic Area to the historic old cemetery near Yosemite Village, then along the north side of the Valley Loop trail to the El Cap Crossover road, over to Southside Drive, a stop at Cathedral Beach to take photos of El Cap reflected in the Merced, back to the end of Southside Drive, and a loop around Happy Isles Loop Road, and back to Church Bowl.

9-mile bike ride from a pullout along Northside Drive, west along the Valley Loop Trail to Valley View to stop to take photographs, left back around to the Southside Drive, and then left on the El Cap Crossover Road to Northside Drive where our Subaru was parked.

18.6-mile e-bike ride from Lake Hawea to Lake Wanaka. The start of the ride pretty much followed the Hawea River Track for the first 9 miles, along a riverside trail with beautiful landscapes along the way. At around 9 miles (the halfway point) we came to the Clutha River, where we had to ride over a narrow bridge, with about 2 inches to spare on either end of my handlebars. After that, we were on the Outlet Track, a beautiful dirt trail through a forest, which traced the shores of the Clutha River. As the trail narrowed in sections to single track (only one bike wide), I once again questioned how (and why?) my son was able to get my granddaughter through here in her little trailer behind him. From there we continued along a very picturesque lakeside trail leading us back along the lovely shores of Lake Wanaka into the town.

5-mille, out-and-back ride from our house in Edgartown to State Beach with the kids

10-mile loop through town and out along the bike path along Katama Road. For old time sake, we took the longer route to the beach along the Edgartown Bay Road to get to South Beach. After a two-hour stop to swim and play on the beach, we hopped back on our bikes, but instead of going back the way we came, we rode parallel to the beach along Atlantic Drive and then made a right onto Herring Cove Road.
